TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) argued that the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) is working too slow on their investigation of various human rights violations that occured in Indonesia. KontraS believed that Komnas HAM is too focused on only one or two cases.
"The fact is human rights violations did not only occur in the Cebongan Penitentiary case," said KontraS Executive Coordinator, Haris Azhar, on Monday, April 22.
Haris stated that due to Komnas HAM’s slow investigation, Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro announced that no human rights violations were found in the Cebongan case. "That statement was released because Komnas HAM was still investigating," said Haris.
