TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – It is highly uncommon to take mobile phones to a harsh work environment. Although communication and accesibility considered to be essential, mobile phones are less likely to be found in a dirty and rugged environment due to it's highly sensitive equipment. Caterpillar, a company well-know for producing heavy machinery, decided to address the issue by launching CAT B15, an android mobile phone.
CAT B15 is equipped with a 4 inch Gorrila Glass screen, which provides 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Despite the small resolution, CAT B15 is made of aluminium and rubber, making it scratch and shock resistant.
Adding up to it’s toughness, the phone’s IP67 certification means that it is dust-resistant and can be operated underwater to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes.CAT B15 costs around USD 350 or IDR 3,35 million.
