TEMPO.CO, Copenhagen - Nowadays, touch screen interface technology might have dominated most devices. However, students from IT University of Copenhagen Denmark came up with a discovery that would certainly threaten the existence of touch screen, The Eye Tribe startup.
The Eye Tribe technology controls a device by tracking eye movement with similar accuracy to fingertips movement on touch screen devices. This can be achieved by applying a system called sub-millimeter pupil tracking.
Furthermore, it turns out that pupil can be used to provide authorization similar to fingerprint Thus, it allows people to privately acces their online accounts.
Sune Alstrup Johansen, founder of The Eye Tribe said that Eye-Controlled Technology “possesses untapped potential that is yet to be develop in the future", enabling us to navigate websites, applications, and games ‘handsfree’.
The Eye Tribe project began seven years ago when four founders met to discuss the possibility of developing an affordable technology for eye-controlled devices. Starting with US$ 1 million from private investor and US$ 4.4 from the government, they began to develop The Eye Tribe for mobile devices.
A demo in the project’s website shows a Fruit Ninja game played by using eye movement. The Eye Tribe plans to release a software development kit (SDK) for Android in June 2013.
