TEMPO Interactive, Kupang:More dead victims have been found following the sinking of the Hasnita motor boat in Lembata waters, East Nusa Tenggara. There are now 11 dead victims, while 55 other passengers remain missing. The Hasnita motor boat left the Boleng seaport in Ile Boleng, East Flores, heading for Lewoleba, Lembata Regency. In the Lembata waters, located three nautical miles from the Lewoleba seaport, the boat, captained by Jakob Awam, lost contact. The boat was assumed to have sunk due to passenger overload and bad weather that caused engine trouble. According to Lembata Police chief, Comm. Marthin Johannis, when it left from the Boleng seaport, the Hasmita motor boat carried 87 passengers and eight motorcycles. He said that until 20.00PM local time, the search team found four more survivors. Earlier, 17 passengers were rescued by fishermen. Meanwhile, another dead passenger was found. That makes a total of 11 victims found, Marthin said. The search will continue today, deploying all fishing boats and the ships at the Lewoleba seaport. YOHANES SEO
