TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The British Embassy for Indonesia-Timor Leste through Chevening offers master’s scholarship opportunities for Indonesian students, especially those from Eastern Indonesia.
Chevening is the UK government’s international program funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office of the UK and partner organizations.
The Chevening team visited Hasanuddin University in Makassar to disseminate the program. British Ambassador Dominic Jermey said on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, that the Embassy is pleased the Chevening scholars utilize the knowledge and skills they gain while studying in the UK to encourage long-term positive change in Indonesia once they return.
Prospective candidates can submit their applications on Chevening’s official website at chevening.org/apply. Over 300 Hasanuddin University students have registered for this program.
The British Embassy opened the scholarship slot for 50 Indonesian students, and the registration is open from August 6 to November 5, 2024.
The scholarship allows students to pursue a fully-funded master’s degree course at over 150 universities in the UK.
To apply for the scholarship, applicants are required to propose a realistic and achievable idea to create positive change in their home country and how a UK master's degree will help them realize the idea.
After Makassar, the Chevening team from the British Embassy will visit Gorontalo on August 16, 2024. During the visit, the team will meet with relevant stakeholders including local governments, universities, and non-governmental organizations to promote and spread information about the Chevening Scholarship.
