Jokowi to Lead Cabinet Meeting at New Capital Nusantara Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will lead a Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace of the Nusantara Capital City or IKN, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, today, Monday, August 12, 2024. 

Jokowi is slated to head the meeting at 08:45 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesia Time) and give directions about the ‘Nusantara Baru, Indonesia Maju’ (New Nusantara, Onward Indonesia).

Minister of State Secretary Pratikno explained that the meeting will generally discuss the government’s next year plans and evaluate this year’s programs. 

"Especially since it’s the tail-end of President Jokowi’s administration and the transition to President Prabowo Subianto’s government,” said Pratikno when met after a meeting at the Ministry of State Secretariat Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. However, Pratikno did not explain in detail the agendas for the first Cabinet Meeting in IKN. 

All ministers of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet have been confirmed to be invited to the Cabinet Meeting at IKN. Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana told Tempo that the President's aides will stay at the Nusantara Hotel.

Jokowi has departed for IKN on Sunday. Yusuf Permana said President Jokowi will also return to his office at IKN for the next few days. 

Additionally, President Jokowi will attend several groundbreakings of some supporting infrastructure at the new capital city.

Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs Raja Juli Antoni departed for IKN along with the president yesterday.
