Indonesia's Jusuf Kalla Attends Haniyeh's Funeral in Qatar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla attended the funeral of Ismail Haniyeh, a leader of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, in Doha, Qatar, on Friday, August 2.
In a video shared by his special staff, Kalla was seen standing beside Haniyeh's grave, reciting prayers.
He said that the hundreds of thousands of people who attended the funeral seemed emotional. They attended Friday prayers and continued with funeral prayers.
According to Kalla, high-ranking officials from other countries, including Iran, Turkey, Malaysia, and Oman, also attended the service.
"All were present, and this signifies our support for Palestine," he said.
Haniyeh was killed along with his aide in a missile attack targeting his residence during a stay in Tehran, Iran, on Wednesday, July 31.
Kalla had once met with Haniyeh in Doha to offer humanitarian assistance for Gaza.
