President Leads Limited Cabinet Meeting on Accelerating Oil and Gas Production

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo led a limited meeting with a number of ministers at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 31, to discuss the acceleration of oil and gas production.
"Oil and gas production needs to be accelerated. The prospects are already visible," Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said after attending a limited meeting.
He said there are potential new sources of oil and gas, among others, in the Makassar Strait and in Eastern Indonesia.
"Of the five new working areas for joint studies, the results of geoseismic 2020. There are 32 thousand kilometers of geoseismic that identify several potential new oil and gas findings," Arifin explained.
The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) said that the achievement of oil lifting in the first semester of 2024 reached 576 thousand barrels of oil per day (BOPD).
"The realization of our oil production is 576 thousand barrels per day," said Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto in the Upstream Oil and Gas Performance Press Conference Semester I/2024 in Jakarta, Friday, July 19.
This achievement is lower when compared to the target set by the 2024 State Budget of 635 thousand BOPD.
Meanwhile, gas distribution or lifting in Semester I/2024 was recorded at 5,301 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD).
This achievement is lower than that set in the 2024 State Budget of 5,785 MMSCFD, and lower than that set in the WP&B of 5,443 MMSCFD.
