TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia U-19 national team player Welber Jardim revealed that the players worked hard and focused until the last minute when they won against Malaysia with a score of 1-0 in the semifinal match of the AFF U-19 2024 Cup at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) Surabaya, Saturday night, July 27, 2024.
“The match (earlier) went well. All players focus until the last minute by running, pushing themselves, until they can score a goal,” Welber said in the Mixed Zone area of the GBT Stadium Surabaya.
After the match against Malaysia, he and his colleagues will focus on training even harder to face the final match against Thailand.
“Hopefully in the final match we can become champions,” said the player born April 25, 2007.
Although he doesn't know Thailand's strength for now, he still hopes to win the match and become a champion.
“We don't know how our opponents are, but for sure we have to train hard until the final. Because everyone wants (to be) champions,” he said.
Not only that, the player who joined Sao Paulo U-17 also thanked the Indonesian team of doctors who had treated him so that he could play in the semifinal match.
“I want to thank all the doctors, all the officials who support me by helping with physiotherapists at night, morning and afternoon,” he said.
Meanwhile, Indonesian U-19 national team coach Indra Sjafri acknowledged the greatness of the team of doctors who could help restore the player's condition so that it could be even better.
“The Indonesian team of doctors is very sophisticated, because the players have one tool for recovery in each room, then also our physio equipment is quite good,” said the coach from West Sumatra.
Including, he continued, when Welber suffered a collision in the preliminary match against Timor Leste. “Yesterday we convinced Welber with an MRI, the MRI results stated there was no problem, after that he was sure he was not injured and I included him in the program against Malaysia,” he said.
