TEMPO.CO, JakartaMcDonald's Indonesia license holder, PT Rekso Nasional Food, spoke up following the news of McDonald's Israel giving meal aid to Israel, as well as the call for a boycott by the public on the internet.

McDonald’s Indonesia Associate Director of Communications, Meta Rostiawati, said that her side was concerned about the escalation of conflict in the Middle East, which is the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.

Meta said that PT Rekso Nasional Food is a national private company entirely owned by an Indonesian entrepreneur. She mentioned that the number of employees reaches more than 16,000 local workforces.

"McDonald’s Indonesia is an entity that operates independently and not affiliated with operational activities or decisions of McDonald’s in other countries including McDonald’s Israel," she said in an official statement on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

She said that her company is committed to providing the best service and best quality food and giving benefits to the local communities and Indonesian people.

"We are not involved in any political activities," Meta remarked.
