Traffic Director of the Jakarta Metro Police Commissioner Latif Usman stated that his institution will resume law enforcement against vehicles failing the emissions test. "We are cooperating with the Jakarta Environmental Office to educate the public," he said in a written statement on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
According to Latif, the free emissions test is a form of education in an educative-repressive approach. Meanwhile, emissions test ticketing is a last resort option.
Police have also cooperated with the environmental office to prepare hundreds of workshops to conduct free emissions tests.
2. BMKG: Another Scorching Heat to Hit Bekasi, Some Jakarta
Jakarta and its neighboring regions will have mostly bright and sunny skies today, September 29, 2023. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that scorching heat reaching 36 degrees Celsius is likely to hit some areas.
