Earthquake Jolts Aceh at Midnight

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Aceh on September 28, 2023, at 00:47 a.m. WIB. The epicenter of this quake was recorded at 401 kilometers southwest of Sinabang, Aceh, at a 10-kilometer depth.
The quake was felt at an II-III MMI intensity scale in Banda Aceh, similar to the vibration experienced while a truck passes by.
Another quake recorded at 01:19 a.m. WIB in Kendal, Central Java. The earthquake was shallow, located 26 kilometers southwest of Kendal at a 7-kilometer depth. It was reported as a 2.6-magnitude.
The earthquake was felt with an II MMI intensity scale in Kendal. The vibration was experienced by several people, slightly shaking light-hanging objects.
At 01:58 a.m., another earthquake was recorded with a 2.6-magnitude in Banten. Initial data reported that the epicenter of this earthquake was located 33 kilometers southwest of Bayah, Banten at a 36-kilometer depth.
