Jokowi Takes Celebrities Exploring IKN: from Seeing Development Progress to Eating Durian
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi took Indonesian celebrities on his visit to the new capital city of Nusantara or IKN in East Kalimantan. President on Friday, Sept. 22, took them to explore IKN, check the location for the construction of the presidential office, eat durian, and have dinner together.
The celebrities include Saykoji, Aurelie Moeremans, Asri Welas, Baim Wong, and Cak Lontong, as stated by the state press bureau.
President Jokowi explained the progress of the development and showed them the location of the state palace which could be seen clearly from above the presidential office building. Then he took them to visit other infrastructures, namely Sumbu Kebangsaan Barat up to the hill to show the view of IKN from above.
After that, Jokowi invited them to eat durian together in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. Before having dinner amidst shady trees, the President and the celebrities attended the “Nusantara Appreciation Night” event.
The celebrities and several ministries enjoyed the night by chatting and eating the food that had been prepared. The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, took turns singing with celebrities to enliven the moment.
At the Nusantara Appreciation Night, Jokowi talked a lot about the progress of IKN development. During his visit this week to IKN, the president led the groundbreaking for the construction of the Nusantara Hotel, National Training Center, and Abdi Waluyo Hospital.
