BMKG: Pouring Rain and High Waves in Parts of Indonesia Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted rain, strong winds, and high waves in parts of Indonesia today, September 18, 2023.
"Rain with lightning on Monday is estimated to pour over Medan. Medium rain is forecasted to drench Serang, Pontianak, and Mamuju" BMKG wrote.
Meanwhile, light rain is estimated to drizzle on Banda Aceh, Bengkulu, Central Jakarta, Bandung, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Tarakan, Tanjung Pinang, Ambon, Ternate, Jayapura, Manokwari, Manado, and Padang. The capital city of Jambi will be blanketed in smoke, while fog will cover Samarinda. The temperature today ranges from 20 to 35 degrees Celsius with the lowest in Bandung and the highest temperature recorded in Makassar.
An early warning for heavy rain has been released for Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, North Maluku, and Papua.
Strong winds are forecasted in NTT, South Sulawesi, and Maluku.
BMKG also released early warnings for high waves in parts of Indonesian waters on September 18 and 19, 2023. In the north of Indonesia, the wind pattern moves from the northeast to the southwest with 5 to 20 knots velocity. Meanwhile, the wind pattern moves from the east to the northeast at the south of Indonesia with 8 to 25 knots velocity.
The strongest wind is observed in the Indian Ocean west of Lampung, south of Banten waters, west of Selayar Islands waters, Banda Sea south of Merauke waters, and Arafuru Sea.
The situation causes a 2.5 to 4 meters high waves potential at the west of Aceh waters, west of Simeulue waters to Mentawai islands, Bengkulu waters to the west of Lampung, Indian Ocean at the west of Sumatra, south part of Sunda Strait, south of Banten waters to the East Java, south of Bali waters to Sumbawa, south part of Bali-Lombok-Alas Strait, south of Sumba Island-Sawu Island, and Indian Ocean at the south of Banten to Sawu.
