TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air announced a new non-stop flight route from Solo to Saudi Arabia starting September 9, 2023. Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, mentioned that the non-stop flight will give an opportunity for Umrah pilgrims and tourists to explore the international route.
"[The flight] offers an extraordinary Umrah and summer holiday trip departing from Solo," said Danang on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
According to Danang, Solo, and Adi Soemarmo International Airport in Boyolali is easily accessible by the residents of Central Java, making it a strategic Umrah embarkation point.
Danang explained that the direct flight would support the need for Umrah and merge the experience with the highly captivating Saudi Arabian summer.

The direct flight from Solo will facilitate the residents and tourists from 17 areas surrounding the airport, including Solo City, Boyolali Regency, Sukoharjo Regency, Salatiga, Magelang, Banyumas, Temanggung, Klaten, Wonosobo, Purworejo, Cilacap, Banjarnegara, Purbalingga, Kebumen, Sragen, Karanganyar, Wonogiri, Yogyakarta, and other regions.
Lion Air operates large planes from the newest generation with a high capacity of 440 economy-class passengers.
