Jokowi Arrives in Tanzania; Welcomed by Tanzanian Cultural Performances

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and his entourage arrived in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 17:05 p.m. EAT.
According to the Presidential Secretariat's Press, Media, and Information Bureau, the president's arrival was welcomed by the Foreign Minister of Tanzania Stergomena Tax, Indonesian Ambassador for Dar Es SalaamTri Yogo Jatmiko with Ratna Jayanti Jatmiko, and Indonesian Defence Attache in Pretoria Marine Colonel Burhanuddin and Witha Anugrah.
President Jokowi received a bouquet of flowers from a Tanzanian child. Jokowi was also welcomed at the airport with cultural performances such as a Maasai Tribe dance from Arusha and Msewe dance from Zanzibar. A local music group also played traditional music to welcome the Indonesian president.
From Julius Nyerere International Airport, Jokowi headed to his hotel. Jokowi was then welcomed by a number of employees of the Indonesian Embassy in Dar Es Salaam and the representatives of Indonesian nationals in Tanzania.
During the visit, Jokowi is accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
Previously, Jokowi and his entourage headed to Tanzania from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya at around 15:40 p.m. EAT.
