Indonesian Trade Minister Woos Malaysian Investors to Local Hospital Industry

9 June 2023 23:41 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan met with the Malaysian Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

Zulkifli or familiarly known as Zulhas, discussed the Indonesian hospital sector and asked the Malaysian health industry to make investments, especially those in areas outside Java Island. He asserted that it is a great investment opportunity.

“The hospital sector outside Java Island is not as advanced as in Java Island. This will be a great opportunity to invest in the hospital sector outside Java Island,” Zulhas said in a statement on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

The two ministers also addressed the European Union's deforestation policies which discriminate against developing countries. They agreed to tighten cooperation as they shared the same interest in protecting the people and small farmers.

In the meeting, Zulhas also expressed support for Malaysia which will host the Ministerial Committee Meeting of the International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) and asked for support in the nomination of the IRCo CEO.

“I ask for Malaysia's support in Indonesia's nomination as IRCo CEO for the September 2023-August 2025 period. I am also ready to collaborate with Malaysia in formulating the ITRC/IRCo strategic programs,” Zulhas concluded.
