TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Batik Air announced a new direct flight route connecting Indonesia's North Sumatra and India via Kualanamu International Airport to the Chennai International Airport that will take its inaugural flight on August 11 this year.
The subsidiary of low-cost carrier Lion Air will operate this international flight with its Boeing 737-800NG fleet.
“This route is scheduled to operate daily with a seven days a week flight frequency,” said Danang Mandala Prihartoro, Batik Air's strategic corporate communications officer in a statement on June 9.
He asserted that the new route proves the carrier’s pledge to always provide the best options for its loyal customers, business actors, and tourists to expand flight networks. A direct flight such as this, he said, is beneficial for those seeking time efficiency in conducting international business.
Chennai is known for its rich cultural heritage sites and other historical locations in India’s history, which is the focal attraction for local Indonesian tourists. It is also known for its culinary options that can satisfy the visual and taste of a “true India.”
“People can experience the beauty of India’s classic and astonishing classical music and dances,” he added.
