TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia on Wednesday reiterated President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s direct instruction to accelerate the realization of foreign and domestic investments. He specifically mentioned the electric vehicle or EV battery plant located at South Sulawesi’s Bantaeng green industrial area.
The President is aiming to conduct the groundbreaking in September this year. “We will accelerate it as instructed,” said Minister Bahlil after attending the meeting that was led by the President himself at the Presidential Palace on May 31.
The investments for EV batteries, according to the Minister, have come from cooperation with companies from Britain, Belgium, Swiss, and Indonesian SOEs.
Apart from Bantaeng, the government also plans to accelerate the realization of nickel mining investment in Papua according to statutory regulations.
"So let's not be sluggish just because of conducting constant studies. This country has too many studies." said the Investment Minister. The value of the EV battery plant at Bantaeng is reported to reach US$9 billion planned to meet domestic and foreign demands.
