Traffic Diversion at Horse Statue, HI Roundabout for MRT Phase 2 Project

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency implemented traffic diversion due to the project of MRT Phase 2 HI Roundabout Station-Simpang Harmoni.

Roads affected include Jalan MH Thamrin, starting from the National Monument or Monas or Horse Statue Roundabout to the MRT HI Roundabout Station.

“Jakarta Transportation Agency enforces traffic diversion in line with the continuation of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Phase 2 CP-201 segment,” said the agency head Syafrin Liputo in a written statement in Jakarta, Friday, May 26, 2023, as quoted from Antara.

The follow-up project, which is the construction of the Thamrin Station entrance, kickstarted from May 21, 2023, to April 30, 2024, and will occupy the pedestrian area of Jalan Kebon Sirih on the north side of Wisma Mandiri.

The first stage of soil investigation work at entrance 7 of Thamrin Station will take place on May 29 - June 7, 2023, while the second stage will be on June 8-17, 2023. The work area is located on the east side of Jalan MH Thamrin (ESDM Building) which will occupy one of four lanes so there will be three mixed traffic lanes.

There will also be the construction of the additional tunnel in two stages. The first stage will take place from May 28 - August 31, 2023, so only three of the four lanes on the south side of Monas/Horse Statue will be available for road users.

The second phase will take place from September 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024, where traffic on the south side of the Fountain Roundabout will be divided into four lanes with "decking".

Additionally, the MRT Phase 2 construction project on Kebon Sirih-Jalan MH Thamrin Intersection will commence on June 16, 2023. Vehicles from Jalan Kebon Sirih heading Tanah Abang, which was originally diverted to turn left at the HI Roundabout, will be allowed to go straight at the junction of Jalan Kebon Sirih-Jalan MH Thamrin.
