TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor Regency Government is targeting to give polio vaccines to 542,530 children aged 0-59 months during the National Polio Immunization Week (PIN) Round II. Mike Kaltarina, head of the Bogor District Health Office, said that the activity would be held from 22 May to 2 June.
"The target is the same as in Round I of the Polio PIN, which is 95 percent," Mike said in Cibinong, Monday, as quoted by Antara.
The two rounds of PIN Polio were carried out to address the Polio Extraordinary Events (KLB) in West Java. The vaccine rollout will be carried out in 5,135 integrated service posts or posyandu assisted by 26,130 posyandu staff or cadres.
Mike said that there is currently an outbreak of polio in West Java. The polio virus can be transmitted through various media, such as water. "This can be prevented, but not cured. So, maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle," he said.
During the immunization week, polio immunization posts will be opened in public places, such as markets, malls, stations, places of recitation, as well as kindergartens and pre-school facilities (PAUD). Elements of the community such as district chiefs, village chiefs, neighborhood chiefs, the PKK and the Dasawisma, will also be mobilized to help.
He said the implementation of Polio PIN Round II was also grouped together with the Covid-19 Vaccine Festival at 101 community health centers on May 20, 2023.
The first round of Polio National Immunization Week was a success in Bogor Regency, with an achievement of 91.6 percent or 496,948 children out of a total of a target of 542,530 vaccinated.
