Heru Budi Says Govt Preps Jakarta to Be Business City

17 May 2023 12:41 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaActing Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono stated that the government is preparing Jakarta to be a global business city after it will no longer hold the status of the capital city. He made the statement when opening a talk show on the transition of Jakarta into a global business city today, May 17, 2023, at Jakarta International Equestrian Park, Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta.

“We want to discuss with him (Rhenald Kasali) who will present his view about the economy and others,” Heru Budi said, mentioning the professor of economy at the University of Indonesia who also attended the event.

Heru Budi said the provincial government along with the central government is making efforts to prepare Jakarta to be a business city.

Thus, he invited all related stakeholders to take part in the efforts, including collecting input from a number of parties that will later be used as a basis to create policies.

The Head of the Presidential Secretariat emphasized that Jakarta must keep its existence or still be known as an investment city albeit the status of the capital city will be revoked.

Previously, Heru Budi said Jakarta will be a global city following the relocation of the capital city to East Kalimantan. He outlined that however, there are issues that must be dealt with including extreme poverty, stunting, congestion, and mass transportation.
