These Are The Best-Selling Products on Tokopedia During Ramadan-Eid 2023

Tokopedia collaborates with sellers and partners to bring #LengkapiRamadan to people.

TEMPO.CO, JakartaRamadan to Eid 2023 has been a blessing to businesses in Indonesia, especially local MSMEs, to create online business opportunities and even boost sales, considering that people's purchasing power tends to increase during this time.

"Household Supplies, Food and Beverages, and Fashion are some of the best-selling categories on Tokopedia during Ramadan and Eid 2023. This finding is in line with how people can now re-establish ties with family and relatives directly," said Tokopedia's Head of Corporate Affairs, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya.

Rice, instant noodles, and spring onions are listed as the best-selling products on Tokopedia NOW! throughout Ramadan to Eid 2023. Tokopedia NOW! makes it easier for people to shop for their daily needs, including fresh ingredients for suhoor and iftar dishes - with free shipping, and maximum delivery of two hours after payment.

People also still rely on online channels to buy food or drinks. In the Tokopedia NYAM! the campaign, dates, honey, and food parcels were the most purchased products in Ramadan-Eid 2023.

"The farthest distance for parcel delivery through Tokopedia in the Ramadan-Eid 2023 period is from Jakarta to Jayapura (more than 3,500 km). The success or smoothness of these shipments and all other shipments, during peak seasons such as Ramadan and Eid, is thanks to Tokopedia's collaboration with more than 14 logistics partners, so we really appreciate this," Ekhel explained.

In the Fashion category, Tokopedia's internal data shows that t-shirts, shoes, and headscarves are some of the most purchased products by the public during Ramadan to Lebaran this year.

Meanwhile in the Travel category, Tokopedia notes that plane tickets to Sidoarjo as the most sold destination during Ramadan 2023.

Throughout Ramadan until Lebaran 2023, Tokopedia and businesses also continue to present various interactive live shopping shows through the Tokopedia PLAY video streaming channel. "The ngabuburit hour is the time most people use to enjoy Tokopedia PLAY shows," Ekhel added.

Tokopedia together with trusted and verified humanitarian organizations also make it easier for people to carry out zakat, with more than Rp 5 billion zakat collected through Tokopedia.

Tokopedia rolls out various campaigns for #LengkapiRamadan sellers to boost their sales. One of them is the Hyperlocal initiative.

Hyperlocal Tokopedia uses geo-tagging to bring sellers closer to buyers wherever they are. This initiative consists of various manifestations, such as Kumpulan Toko Pilihan (KTP) and Dilayani Tokopedia fulfillment services. "Tokopedia's internal data shows that more than 40% of Dilayani Tokopedia orders during Ramadan 2023 were sent using instant delivery services," said Ekhel.

In addition to the Hyperlocal initiative, Tokopedia also presents Ramadan in Style, a special campaign for local businesses of praying equipment and Muslim fashion for women and men. One of the sellers is Universa Sajadah which has been selling praying mats since 2014.

"Now almost 50% of Universa Sajadah sales come from Tokopedia. This number dominates when compared to other sales platforms," said the owner Renato Akbar.

Akbar empowers a number of local tailors in Depok, West Java, to produce prayer mats, sarongs and mukenas. To handle the surge in orders during Ramadan, he employs more freelancers, as sales increased more than five times compared to the usual month.

In addition, there is also the Tokopedia NYAM! campaign which specifically collaborates with businesses from various regions in Indonesia to provide food and beverage products. Bruule is an MSME that participated in this campaign and recorded various benefits, especially during Ramadan to Lebaran 2023.

Armed with hereditary family recipes, husband-and-wife team Reza Harisky and Sarila Danubrata and their partner Chaka Ramadhan founded Bruule in March 2020. Bruule was a last-ditch effort by Sarila and her colleagues to survive as Reza's hospitality business collapsed due to the pandemic.

Through Bruule, Reza, Sarila and Chaka are not the only ones who benefit, but they can also have a positive impact on the economy of the surrounding community, including suppliers, app-based motorcycle taxi drivers, and others. Workers who were previously laid off from Reza's hotel business can also be rehired.

Bruule also regularly participates in Tokopedia’s campaign, with Tokopedia NYAM! being the latest. "Thanks to the many campaigns that we participated in, the various branches of Bruule's online store on Tokopedia-which are spread across Jakarta and Bandung-experienced an average increase in transactions by 4 times during the month of Ramadan compared to the usual month," Sarila said.
