Indonesia Ranks 3rd in SEA Games Gold Medal Tally as of Monday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia found itself dropping to third in the 2023 SEA Games medal tally after Thailand overtook the second spot after winning an equal amount of gold medals following Sunday’s games on May 7.
Both Indonesia and Thailand are even in terms of obtaining 16 gold medals respectively. On the second day of the SEA Games, the former collected eight gold medals while the latter took nine gold medals.
After the Indonesian squad in cycling contributed gold in the Mixed Cross Country Relay (XCR) relay number, vovinam athlete Manik Trisna Dewi Wetan also presented gold, as well as the sports of pencak silat, hockey, karate, and swimming.
Indonesia’s Pencak Silat won two gold medals in the artistic women's single number and the artistic men's team number. The men's indoor hockey team and karateka Sandi Firmansyah, who played in the men's individual kumite number (-84 kg), also contributed gold to Indonesia.
Swimmers I Gede Siman Sudartawa and Masniari Wolf successfully won gold medals in the men's and women's 50-meter backstroke. Indonesia also added four silver and 15 bronze on Sunday.
Meanwhile, changes in the ranking of the 2023 SEA Games medal standings also occurred in the fourth and fifth positions. Vietnam managed to move up one place in fourth place with 15 gold, changing positions with the Philippines which dropped to fifth with 13 gold.
