TNI, Police Well Prepared to Safeguard ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo along with the military, or TNI, Commander Admiral Yudo Margono asserted that TNI and the Police will work together to secure the ASEAN Summit event in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"[...] TNI and the Police are ready to secure the series of events that will be held starting on May 7 until finish," Sigit said in NTT, Saturday, May 6.
Sigit said that TNI-Police personnel and related stakeholders will conduct security and guard the international event starting from the arrival of the delegations to the main event.
"There are several main events and additional events that must run safely and well," he said.
Maximum protection will help in succeeding the ASEAN Summit event and eventually will give a positive image about Indonesia. The ASEAN Summit is also hoped to be able to produce good decisions for both Indonesia and other countries.
Sigit further said that all stakeholders from the central and regional governments know that the key to a successful event is the commitment to synergize and work together in carrying out the entire series of security activities at the ASEAN Summit.
"Therefore, after this, we're going to ask everyone to blend in together, to unite, and then recognize what is the threat to their respective duties. And we're ready to face various threats, starting from criminal issues, route problems, terrorism, protests or demonstrations, as well as preparing a contingency plan if there are things that must be done," said Sigit.
TNI commander Admiral Yudo Margono said that all of the personnel and the equipment were ready to be optimally utilized in safeguarding the ASEAN Summit.
Around 12,000 joint personnel from the TNI, Police, and other stakeholders are ready to provide the best security at the event.
