TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train (KCJB) will be inaugurated in August 2023.
“We hope that the President will inaugurate it on August 18,” said Luhut at the Dukuh Atas LRT Station on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Luhut said that the trial run will be carried out in May. The inauguration was initially scheduled for July. However, Luhut claimed that it was not postponed. “We want to present a gift for August 17 (the 78th anniversary of Indonesian independence day),” Luhut added.
Luhut also explained that the laying of the last railroad tracks for the fast train had been conducted on Friday morning. “So, a total of 304-kilometer railway tracks have been installed. They are the left and right rails. All done,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, Director General of Railways at the Transportation Ministry Risal Wasal confirmed the inauguration schedule.
Rizal stated that the fast train will immediately open after the inauguration or on August 18 for the public. “The trial run will be on May 1,” he said.
Regarding tickets for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train, Risal claimed he could not announce it yet. “[The ticket for] the fast train will be more expensive than the LRT ticket. About one integrated ticket, we're still reviewing it,” he said.
