TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned bus operator Transjakarta started operating nine Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) shelters affected by the light rail transit (LRT) project for the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi areas or LRT Jabodebek.
"This is an effort to improve services," Acting Director of PT Transjakarta Mohamad Indrayana said at GOR Sumantri Kuningan BRT shelter on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Indrayana explained that BRT shelters that have been integrated with LRT stations include the Departemen Kesehatan bus stop (Kuningan Station), GOR Soemantri bus stop (Rasuna Said Station), Setiabudi Utara bus stop (Setia Budi Station), BNN bus stop (Cawang Station), and Dukuh Atas 2 bus stop (Dukuh Atas Station).
Meanwhile, the operation of non-integrated bus stops includes the Kuningan Timur bus stop, the Patra Kuningan bus stop, the Karet Kuningan bus stop, and the Kuningan Madya bus stop.
In addition to operating BRT shelters, Transjakarta has also opened access to the footbridge (JPO) for the Cikoko bus stop and Cawang Station.
"We are still conducting trials before operating a number of bus stops because we still want to improve facilities, from cleanliness to security," Indrayana added.
The commitment-making officer (PPK) for the Urban Transport Infrastructure Development, Ferdian Suryo Adhi Pramono, added that the integration of BRT and LRT stations was an initiative between the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Transportation Ministry in improving services to public transport users.
"We will operate these integrated bus stops before the Jabodebek LRT station, because the new LRT will operate in July 2023 which, God's willing, will be inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo," Ferdian said.
Ferdian added that the integrated BRT shelters and LRT Jabodebek will be equipped with facilities to accommodate people with disabilities and toilets, prayer rooms, and others to increase users’ convenience.
