TEMPO.CO, Bogor - The Bogor City Government issued a circular prohibiting night entertainment spots from operating during Ramadan 1444 Hijri to maintain security and convenience for Muslims to perform their prayers.
The regulation that applies during the fasting month is contained in circular letter Number: 300/1398 - Huk.HAM concerning the preparedness in anticipating disruptions to peace and public order in Bogor City.
Alma Wiranta, the head of the Legal and Human Rights Unit of the Bogor Regional Secretariat, said the circular was inked by Bogor Mayor Bima Arya on March 20, 2023, containing six points of orders for the management of night entertainment venues (THM), restaurants, and all residents.
“The first point is for owners of nightclubs, karaoke establishments, singing arenas or the like, massage parlors and the like,” Alma said in Bogor, Thursday, March 23, as quoted from Antara.
Alma outlined the orders stipulated in the circular as follows:
1. Nightclubs, karaoke, and massage parlors are barred from operating during the holy month of Ramadan 1444 Hijri to respect Muslims who are fasting.
2. The public is restricted from holding Sahur On the Road or having pre-dawn meals (suhoor) before fasting outdoors.
3. Mosques under the management of the city government are asked to provide suhoor and iftar meals for travelers and the poor.
4. The city government calls on local residents who wish to participate in providing suhoor and iftar meals to coordinate with the Indonesian Mosques Council (DMI) of Bogor.
5. The production or sale and lighting of firecrackers are banned during the fasting month and on Malam Takbiran or the eve of Eid al-Fitr.
6. Owners of restaurants and food stalls are asked to respect Muslims who are fasting.
“Let's carry out this year’s Ramadan happily to earn full blessings,” said Alma.
