Gesits Promises Improvements Following Government Incentive

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Holder of Gesits electric motorcycle brand, PT WIKA Industri Manufaktur (WIMA), stated that it will increase its production capacity to anticipate a surge in electric motorcycle demand by customers. Gesits is one of the electric motorcycle brands that qualify for the electric motorcycle incentives provided by the government.

PT WIMA President Director Bernardi Djumiril, said that currently, Gesits factory located in Cileungsi has a production capacity of 50,000 units per year. Gesits will make adjustments to its production capacity in consideration of consumer demands.

"But in this regard, we must also be careful in making investments, so we must calculate exactly the neds or public request, we will adjust our production with market existing market demands,: Bernardi said in a press conference on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

In addition to increasing production capacity, Bernardi also said that Gesits will continue to increase the use of local components in producing its electric motorcycle. Based on data received by Tempo, currently, Gesits G1 motorcycle has 60.5 percent of the domestic components ratio (TKDN), while the Gesits Raya variant has 60.36 percent of TKDN.

"We continue to innovate and will continue to use local components, so the products we developed in the upcoming years, starting from this year, it will continue to increase, from 46, to 50, to 60 percent. God's willing, with the availability of locally-produced batteries, [the TKDN[ can reach 90 percent," Bernardi said.

Gesits is one of the electric motorcycles that qualifies for incentives from the government in the amount of Rp7 million per unit. With the incentive applied, the price of Gesits motorcycle is currently set at Rp21.97 for the G1 type, and Rp20.99 for the Raya type.
