TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi wants Youth Creative Hubs, like the one in Jayapura, Papua, are also built in other areas in East Indonesia. The Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) is a building that has various facilities and can be used by young Papuans to accelerate human development.
"The first one is in Papua, and I want them to also be built in East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, Maluku, and Aceh. Start this year and finish them by next year. Replicate everything that we have here because this is already so great," Jokowi said in his speech in a video posted to the YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, 21 March.
The newly inaugurated Papua Youth Creative Hub has various facilities and functions, from manufacturing cellphones, manufacturing laptops, podcast studios, and music studios, to photography studios. Jokowi expressed his admiration for the Papuan MSME products available in the hub.
The PYCH recently inaugurated by Jokowi cost Rp105 billion to build together with the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). The construction project was carried out using a multi-year scheme.
The complex spans 1.5 hectares, complete with numerous facilities from MSME exhibition rooms, dormitories, sports fields, and a theater that can seat 400 people.
