TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Depok Immigration Office arrested a foreign national for violating immigration regulations. The office head Fahrul Novry Azman reported that the Iranian citizen has overstayed for more than 10 years.
Fahrul explained that the detention of the foreigner identified as BS was developed under the supervision of the intelligence team of the Depok Immigration Office in the Cipayung district.
“From the surveillance, it is known that the foreign national is Iranian. His initials are BS. He does not have a residence permit,” he said on Monday, March 20.
The immigration office thus immediately arrested and brought BS for further examination. During the investigation, it was discovered that BS had lived in Cipayung District for 5 years.
“He has lived in Cipayung District since 2018, so it's been around 5 years. Previously, he claimed to live in Lampung. So he overstayed more than 10 years,” explained Fahrul.
The Depok Immigration Office would deport BS to his country of origin on Tuesday, March 21. “We will ban the person [from entering Indonesia as he] is violated Article 78 paragraph 3 of Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration,” Fachrul concluded.
