TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a weather forecast for Monday, March 20, in which rain will likely hit parts of Indonesia. The agency also issued warnings for several regions.

Rain accompanied by lightning is expected in Jambi, Samarinda, Tarakan, Makassar, and Palembang. Heavy rain is forecasted to drench Mamuju.

Moderate-intensity rain will possibly shower Bengkulu, Gorontalo, Bandung, Mataram, and Kendari. Light-intensity rain will likely wet Banda Aceh, Serang, Yogyakarta, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Pangkal Pinang, Ternate, Kupang, Jayapura, Manokwari, Pekanbaru, Padang, and Medan.

The agency monitored cyclonic circulation in the northern Pacific Ocean of Papua, southern Papua, West Kalimantan, and the western Indian Ocean of Aceh. This forms a convergence area extending from West Papua to Papua, southern Papua to the Arafuru Sea, Bangka Belitung to West Kalimantan, and the Indian Ocean to the western waters of Aceh.

Other convergence areas are observed extending from East Java to West Java. These increase the growth potential of rain clouds around the cyclonic circulation and along the convergence area.

Strong local lability that supports convective processes at a regional scale is found on the west coast of Sumatra, the south coast of Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

The air temperature throughout the country ranges from 20-34 degrees Celsius with the lowest temperature in Bandung and the highest in Surabaya.

The BMKG further warned West Kalimantan and West Sulawesi of potential hydrometeorological disasters due to the impact of heavy rains.
