TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi held another special meeting with the chief of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, after the last meeting was held at Batu Tulis Palace in Bogor, West Java last year. The recent meeting was held for 3 hours at Merdeka Palace, North Jakarta.

"The meeting, of course, discussed various important things related to the 2024 Election," said PDIP secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto in a written statement Saturday, March 18. Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung also attended the meeting.

Hasto explained that Megawati and Jokowi regularly meet.

In this second meeting, the state leaders talked about various national problems, as well as building an understanding of the future direction. That includes many strategic agendas related to foreign policy in facing geopolitical challenges, supporting the mastery of science, research, and innovation, and realizing food sovereignty, as a way for an independent Indonesia.

According to Hasto, the meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere considering the close relationship between Megawati and Jokowi.
