Batam to Open 60 Ramadan Markets Throughout City

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Batam Culture and Tourism Agency announced that at least 60 Ramadan markets will be opened throughout the city during the fasting month. Located in various subdistricts and urban villages, each culinary bazaar will offer diverse iftar foods or snacks to break the fast and meals.

The agency head Ardiwinata said the number of traders possibly increases as the data remains provisional.

“The bazaar will involve MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) traders throughout Batam city, particularly culinary business actors,” said Ardi, on Wednesday, March 15.

Ardi said the city government is also set to hold a Ramadan market titled 'Batam Wonderfood and Art Ramadan 2023' at Taman Dang Anom, Batam Center. “I invite the public to enliven every existing bazaar so as to drive the economy in Batam City.”
