TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Chief Erick Thohir stated that the national team is scheduled to have a match against Palestine on FIFA Matchday in June 2023.
“I have communicated with the President of the Palestinian Football Federation (PFA) and they have agreed to hold a FIFA Matchday match on June 14, 2023. They have also sent an official letter to PSSI regarding their willingness to hold one match,” said Erick as quoted from the PSSI official website, on Thursday, March 16.
PSSI received the reply letter from PFA through its Secretary General Firas Abu Hilal on Thursday regarding the trial match.
This year, Indonesia’s agenda for FIFA Matchday only remains the matches on June 12 and 20, September 4, October 9 and 27, and November 13 and 21.
“So PSSI has long planned this FIFA Matchday. This is true. PSSI secretariat continues to communicate with us for the next matches. If there are updates on other matches, we will inform you,” Erick added.
The Palestinian national team currently occupies the 93rd position in the FIFA world ranking list, while Indonesia ranks 151st. Before facing Palestine, the Garuda squad will play two matches against Burundi on March 25 and 28 at Patriot Candrabagha Stadium, Bekasi Regency.
