TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has called on the public to check the official website of the General Election Commission (KPU) to see whether their names have been registered in the final voters' list (DPT) for the 2024 general election or not. The call was voiced amidst the confusion over the Central Jakarta District Court’s ruling to postpone the election.
“If [the name] hasn't been registered, report it immediately to the local KPU,” said the President when joining the process of checking and researching voter data at Jakarta Merdeka Palace, Tuesday, March 14.
KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari accompanied the state head in the process of matching voter data which was assisted by a data officer named Feby.
After the checking, Feby said that Jokowi along with his family was registered at the voting booth (TPS) 10 in Gambir, Central Jakarta. “This is proof that I and Ibu Iriana are registered as voters in the 2024 elections,” Jokowi said.
People can check their name on Cekdptonline.kpu.go.id by filling out their identity number (NIK) or passport number. The site will also tell where they can cast their ballots.
Hasyim explained that the voter data matching process lasted from February 12 to March 14, 2023.
When asked whether or not this activity was to confirm that the 2024 Presidential Election will proceed, Hasyim did not deny it. According to him, this is a symbolic moment that Jokowi as an Indonesian citizen and also the president actively participates in election activities.
“This is a symbol that the 2024 election is proceeding according to the agenda,” said Hasyim.
As widely reported, the Central Jakarta District Court ordered the KPU to postpone the 2024 general elections in favor of the Prima Party. The KPU then decided to file an appeal, challenging the ruling.
