Here's How You Can Get Electric Car and Motorcycle Subsidies

13 March 2023 08:46 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has officially announced that it will provide subsidies for the purchase of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles (KBLBB) or electric motorcycles and electric cars. The provision of subsidized assistance for the purchase of electric cars and motorbikes will take effect starting March 20, 2023. So, how do you get an electric vehicle subsidy?

The government will provide subsidy assistance until December 2023. The Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the government will provide subsidized assistance for 200,000 units of electric motorbikes. Meanwhile, the number of electric cars that received subsidized assistance was 35,900 vehicles.

If people are interested in buying an electric motorbike and at the same time getting a subsidy of Rp7 million, they can go directly to the dealer with their KTP. But keep in mind, one NIK is only entitled to get a subsidy for one unit of motorbike or electric car.

That means, not all people have the right to get subsidized assistance for buying electric cars and motorbikes because there are already terms and conditions set by the government. So, what are the requirements for receiving an electric motorbike subsidy? Check out the following information.

Requirements for Obtaining Electric Car and Motorcycle Subsidies

Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) of the Ministry of Finance, Febrio Nathan Kacaribu, in a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment on Monday, 6 March 2023 explained several conditions for people who are entitled to receive electric motorbike subsidies. Here are the conditions:

1. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially recipients of People's Business Credit (KUR)

2. Recipients of Productive Presidential Assistance for Micro Enterprises (BPUM)

3. 450 to 900 VA electricity customers.

It should be noted that based on the basic provisions for providing battery-based electric vehicle incentives (KBLBB), people who meet these criteria will only receive a one-time subsidy. Therefore, they are encouraged to use this assistance as effectively as possible.

How to Get Car and Electric Motorcycle Subsidies

There are several ways to get subsidies for electric cars and motorcycles. For the general public who wish to receive subsidies for electric cars and motorbikes, the government has prepared a subsidy scheme for the conversion of fossil-fueled motorbikes to electricity.

The target for conversion motorbike recipients is 50,000 units. Later, the government will provide a subsidy of Rp7 million for people who want to convert one unit of their motorbike into an electric motorbike through a designated workshop.

There are several additional conditions that must be considered by people who want to get an electric motorbike subsidy, including:

1. Motor in proper condition with a capacity of 100-150 cc

2. Only one electric motor can be converted per ownership.

3. The motorbike must be converted in a workshop that has been certified by the Ministry of Transportation.

4. The motorbike to be converted must have complete and active documents.

5. The name of the vehicle owner listed on the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK) must match the name of the National Identity Card (KTP).

In order for electric motor subsidies to be on target, the government will first verify data for every purchase of an electric motor unit. Verification is carried out when prospective buyers visit electric motorbike dealers.

Verification is carried out by checking the NIK of potential recipients to see their eligibility to receive subsidies by the dealer. If deemed worthy or eligible, the subsidy will be given.
