TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati alluded to abandoned buildings belonging to a number of Public Service Agencies (BLU). She said they have fantastic values because of being located in strategic downtown areas.
“Some are even located in the middle of the crowded areas but are abandoned without thinking that a strategic location provides extraordinary value,” said Sri at the 2023 BLU coordination meeting broadcasted via the Finance Ministry's YouTube channel on Thursday, March 2.
The former managing director of the World Bank assessed that the value of these assets could decline and even become a burden for the state if they are not managed properly. Therefore, she demanded the BLU management and supervisory board make strategic efforts to keep increasing the asset value.
The Directorate General of Treasury at the Finance Ministry noted that the value of state assets under the management of 264 BLU throughout the archipelago reached Rp1,170 trillion. Meanwhile, non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from BLU in 2022 amounted to Rp89.5 trillion.
The PNBP figure, Sri claimed, actually grew by 113.57 percent. However, what should be the focus is not on the PNBP but on how much the BLU could get from the assets worth Rp1,170 trillion.
Moreover, Sri Mulyani said BLU received capital injection directly from the state budget (APBN) to manage the assets, provide employees’ salaries, and revolving funds for MSMEs.
