Indonesia Opens Manado - Japan's Narita Direct Flight Route

1 March 2023 18:41 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Directorate General of Air Transport at the Transportation Ministry opened direct flights for the Manado - Tokyo Narita, Japan route to support the revival of tourism. This flight will be carried out by Garuda Indonesia airline using an Airbus A333 with a capacity of 250 seats, starting today, March 1, 2023.

"We are committed to supporting the potential development of the national tourism industry and improving the performance of the local tourism industry," said Director of Air Transportation Putu Eka Cahyadi in a press statement, Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Putu said the direct flight route will be available once a week, but the figure will be adjusted according to the demand.

In June 2023, he added, Emirates Airlines will serve the Dubai - Denpasar route using the largest commercial aircraft, namely Airbus A380 with a capacity of 600 seats.

Thus, Putu hoped the two direct flight routes will help revive tourism and develop local tourism potential so that business and employment opportunities are wide open. Moreover, the revival of tourism encourages an increase in the occupancy of hotels or inns which will then revive the national economy.
