TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned construction company Waskita Karya (IDX: WSKT) is ready to build the new capital city (IKN), Nusantara, into a smart forest city of the future. The company's ambition is in line with the directives of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.
Waskita Karya president director Destiawan Soewardjono said that President Jokowi provided many inputs. One of them is to pay attention to the environment, with trees planted no further than one meter away from the building site.
Jokowi also asked that buildings in IKN should have their own unique characteristics and with distinct architecture.
"The president said that growing trees would require a long time. He also asked that structures built are of high quality and have distinctions," Destiawan said in a statement in Jakarta, Friday, February 24.
These aspects of the new capital's structure and landscape are expected to attract many investors.
"Waskita is ready to carry out the IKN Project according to the target set by the President and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing to build a future smart forest city in a timely manner and with high quality," he said.
Waskita Karya bagged six projects in the new capital worth a total of Rp5.92 trillion, including the IKN Toll Road Project Segment Sp. Tempadung-Balang Island Bridge worth Rp2.2 trillion, the Presidential Secretariat Building Project worth Rp1.3 trillion, and the construction of the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) worth Rp638 billion, among others.
