TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno reminded all management of tourist destinations to earn cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability (CHSE) certification.
The statement was made in response to a viral video showing East Java Governor Khofifah Indra Parawansa who slipped and fell when monitoring the Seruni Point Glass Bridge in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area. People on social media then questioned the safety of the bridge.
“We have CHSE certification and of course, thank God, the Governor is in good condition, but we surely need to anticipate this in the future, especially during the rainy season, it must be slippery,” said Sandiaga, on Monday, February 20, 2023.
According to him, the CHSE certification has become the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) decided by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with the National Standardization Agency (BSN). The certificate serves as a guarantee that the bridge meets safety standards before being opened to the public.
Ready to Be a New Attraction in Bromo
After the inspection, Governor Khofifah believed the glass bridge would be a new tourist attraction that makes tourists stay and travel longer in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.
“We hope that people can stay for two nights when traveling in Bromo. Apart from enjoying the sunrise, tourists can enjoy the glass bridge at Seruni Point,” said Khofifah, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
At present, the glass bridge is not yet open to the public. Khofifah said construction on both sides of the bridge was still being finalized. However, the provincial government targeted to open Seruni Point Glass Bridge in October.
