TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno confirmed that YouTube content could be used as objects for a bank guarantee. He thus emphasized the importance of building trust between stakeholders.
“We need to prioritize and build trust between stakeholders, which in this case are creative economy actors and financial institutions,” said Sandiaga in a written statement, Friday, February 17, 2023.
According to Sandiaga, building trust is fundamental so both share the same understanding regarding what kinds of creative economy products could be used as objects for debt guarantees.
Sandiaga also explained that based on Government Regulation (PP) No. 24 of 2022, creative industry players need to meet requirements such as having intellectual property certificates, proposals for financing creative economy businesses, and agreements related to the intellectual property of creative economy products.
Furthermore, he said, intellectual property assets or content must get an intellectual property appraisal or IP Valuation that can determine their market value. "It must be ensured that the intellectual property assets as the objects can produce measurable economic benefits."
According to Sandiaga, the rapid development of the digital ecosystem has created a new trend among the youth. For instance, most of today's young people prefer to become influencers and content creators.
"Lately, an article that published research on the Google search engine regarding dream jobs around the world showed an interesting result that many Indonesians are looking for and want jobs as YouTubers," said the minister.
On this basis, Sandiaga Uno believed that YouTube content could not be separated from Indonesia's huge digital economic opportunities.
