South Tangerang Mayor Responds to Workers' Complaint over IMC Bintaro Hospital

15 February 2023 17:01 WIB

TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - South Tangerang Mayor Benyamin Davnie said the city administration would send a warning letter to Ichsan Medical Center or IMC Bintaro Hospital, Ciputat, if it is proven to have committed wrongdoings related to workers' rights.

“It depends on its blunder. It may be closed, but at least, it will be given a notification or a warning,” said Benyamin on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Recently, a number of employees complained about receiving salaries in installments since early 2022 at around Rp300,000 - Rp500,000 per month. One of them who had resigned even claimed to have not been able to get their savings at the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) because the hospital was in arrears with the payment.

Benyamin stated that the city's Health Agency would be proactive in monitoring the hospital and launch an evaluation if there was negligence in workers’ wage payment.

“For sure, the permit from the city administration via the agency will be evaluated if there is negligence in the wage payment of their employees,” said the Golkar politician.

He thus urged IMC Bintaro Hospital to immediately resolve the issue and hoped the management and the workers could have a discussion.

“If it is not resolved, reach the Manpower Agency to be facilitated or mediated in the discussion. Hopefully, unwanted things won’t happen, but just administrative delays,” said the South Tangerang Mayor.
