TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - British Ambassador to Indonesia Matt Downing is reportedly seeking to establish a partnership with the Bali provincial government in terms of green transportation. In the meeting on February 6, the two representatives also discussed waste management, healthcare, and education.
Downing met with Deputy Mayor of Denpasar I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa and Bali Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati on separate occasions, Antaranews reported.
The British Embassy on February 7 tweeted on its official Twitter account, “Mr Downing also met with Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Cok Ace) & discussed potential partnership in tourism, digital, sustainable transport, UMKM/SMEs, disaster management & explore ways to support Bali to meet its ambitions to be net zero emission by 2045.”
Arya Wibawa welcomed the visit positively and looks forward to the future partnership plan that will elevate Bali’s electrification.
“We discussed batter-based vehicles as the United Kingdom already has amazing technologies. We also discussed renewable energy but the details will have to be discussed further,” said Wibawa.
The Bali Provincial Government has previously issued several regulations to support the use of new and renewable energy, including the transportation sector, which is contained in Bali Governor Regulation N0.45/2019 concerning Bali Clean Energy.
Bali currently has built a number of fast-charging and ultra-fast-charging infrastructures at Denpasar and Badung.
