BPJPH Outlines Three Products That Must Be Halal-certified by 2024

3 February 2023 22:36 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaHead of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) of the Religious Affairs Ministry Muhammad Aqil Irham said there are three groups of products that must be halal certified by 2024.

The first product category is food and beverage. The second category is raw materials, food additives, and additional materials for food and beverage. The third category is slaughterhouse products and services.

"These three product groups must be halal-certified by October 17, 2024. If they are not certified and circulate in the community, there will be sanctions," said Aqil as quoted from the ministry’s website, on Friday, February 3, 2023.

Aqil explained that the sanctions to be given include written warnings, administrative fines, to the withdrawal of goods from circulation. "This is in accordance with the provisions in Government Regulation [PP] No. 39 of 2021," Aqil said.

“Therefore, before the mandatory halal certification is implemented, we urge all business actors to immediately manage the halal certification of their products,” Aqil added.

BPJPH opened the service of Free Halal Certification (SEHATI). "Business actors must take advantage of this. We will open SEHATI throughout the year for MSEs who apply for certification through a self-declare mechanism for halal statements," Aqil explained.

This service is available via email on Monday to Thursday from 08:00 AM to 3:00 PM Jakarta time and Friday from 08:00 AM to 3:30 PM Jakarta time. Information related to this service can be accessed via www.halal.go.id.

BPJPH also opens a call center via WhatsApp 08111171019 and email address certificationhalal@kemenag.go.id for information and service. The applications for halal certification can be submitted to the central office of BPJPH or the Regional Task Force via the PTSP of the Religious Ministry or by email to certificationhalal@kemenag.go.id.
