TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Warner Bros. officially announced that a sequel to The Batman will hit theaters on October 3, 2025. Directed by Matt Reeves, the sequel will see Robert Pattinson returning as the Batman/Bruce Wayne.
The synopsis for The Batman Part II is still a secret. The bosses at DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran have all confirmed the release schedule for The Batman sequel during Warner Bros. press conference on Monday, January 30.
Part of the DC Elseworlds
Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel is part of the DC Elseworlds realm, as Variety wrote on Tuesday, January 31. According to James Gunn, any films or television series set outside the main DC Universe will be referred to as DC Elseworlds, much like the label applied by DC Comics.
In addition to The Batman Part II, upcoming projects included in the DC Elseworlds are Joker: Folie a Deux by director Todd Phillips. Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, the Joker sequel is set to release in October 2024. Another Superman film is also in the works, produced by JJ Abrams with Ta-Nehisi Coates as screenwriter.
The first of The Batman films was released in March 2022. It was a critically acclaimed success grossing US$770 million at the worldwide box office last year. The Batman is now available to stream via HBO Max.
