TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadli Imran on Monday said he will form a fact-finding team in relation to the case that grabbed public attention, which is the road accident involving a car driven by a retired police officer which eventually killed a student of the University of Indonesia (UI).
“As a police chief, I will take necessary steps and form a team to search the facts [behind the accident],” said Imran at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on January 30.
The accident took place on Thursday evening, January 6, on a South Jakarta street. The student, Hasya Atallah Syahputra, did not survive the impact with the car driven by retired police officer Eko Setia Budi Wahono. At the time of the fateful night, Hasya was riding his motorcycle on his way home from college.
The initial police report suggests Hasya lost balance and fell with his body thrown to the right side of the street. At the same time, Eko drove past and struck the 18-year-old student.
