TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, First Lady Iriana, and their two grandchildren Jan Ethes and Lembah Manah visited Solo Safari at Jurug Jebres, Solo, Central Java on Monday, January 23, 2023.
Accompanied by his son Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) Director Hans Manansang, the President and his entourage toured the newly-revamped wildlife park that was previously named Taman Satwa Taru Jurug.
Jokowi claimed he was invited by Solo Mayor to the tourist site which has experienced a major renovation of the first phase.
"I was invited by the Mayor to see the revamp of the Taru Jurug Animal Park (TSTJ) in Jebres, which is now a Solo Safari. It's very good," Jokowi said.
Joining the tour, Jan Ethes said he saw snakes, rabbits, horses, chickens, and turtles at the park. "I touched the snake and I wasn't afraid," Jan Ethes said.
The wildlife park Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) Director Hans Manansang explained that the Solo Safari Jurug renovation was expedited to meet the target of reopening on January 27, 2023.
Solo Safari has already been filled with animals including honey foxes, zebras, elephants, kangaroos, lions, snakes, horses, and rabbits. The park also has a water park. "The lion is already there, and the Komodo dragon will soon arrive at Solo Safari Jurug," said Manansang.
