TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police traffic directorate is preparing measures to anticipate traffic jams during the 2023 Chinese New Year, or Imlek holiday until Monday, Jan. 23.

The police formed teams to be deployed to congestion-prone areas in Jakarta and the vicinities during the Lunar New Year holiday.

“We're getting our personnel ready to perform the traffic engineering in areas prone to congestion,” said Jakarta Metro Police traffic director Sr. Comsr. Latif Usman, as quoted from NTMC Polri webpage, Saturday, Jan. 21.

He said that the traffic engineering would be conducted occasionally. In addition, the authorities are preparing patrol teams to unravel congestions on toll and arterial roads.

The areas that are prone to traffic jams during Imlek holiday include Cikampek Toll, Jagirawi toll, Merak Toll, and arterial roads, said Latif Usman.

The police officers will also stand by on the access roads to tourist destinations in Jakarta and the surrounding areas during the Chinese New Year holiday.
