TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang Police Chief Sr. Comsr. Zain Dwi Nugroho said that the police had done an assessment to the officers at monasteries and temples in securing the 2023 Chinese New Year in Tangerang.
The celebration of 2023 Lunar New Year, locally known as Imlek, will be held from Saturday to Sunday, January 21-22. "Including on the deployment of Gegana bomb squad team of Metro Jaya Police to sterilize several monasteries deemed to be prone of disturbance" said Zain, Saturday, Jan. 21.
In addition to bomb sterilization, the police also coordinated with the committes of the event on the parking scheme, as well as the entrance and exit flows of the congregations.
The number of the congregations will also be set in a way so it will not create crowds. "The focus of the security will be done on the Imlek celebration starting Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22, 2023," said Zain.
Some 813 joint personnel of Tangerang Metro Police, the military or TNI, regional government, and police partners is ready to secure and guard the Chinese New Year celebration.
Zain also hopes for the public's involvement in maintaining the harmony in the region to help the TNI and Police officers in keeping a safe and comfortable atmosphere in the 2574 Chinese New Year celebration.
